Transnational Repression
Transnational Repression

Human rights abuses do not stop at borders. Repressive governments relentlessly harass dissidents living abroad with online surveillance and abuse of the international law enforcement mechanisms. In extreme cases, governments forcibly abduct dissidents and return them to their country of origin where they face wrongful detention.
Freedom Now documents instances of transnational repression and educates friendly governments on attempts to harass or extradite foreign nationals living abroad.
