Freedom Now is delighted to announce that it will be a Passion Project Partner with the School of Public Policy (SPP) at Central European University (CEU) in Budapest, Hungary.

The Passion Project program is the culmination of an effort to bridge classroom and experiential learning, develop innovative and entrepreneurial engagement for the common good and make a real, lasting impact to organizations, such as Freedom Now. The Passion Project is a student-designed, policy-oriented capstone project. Over the course of the two-year program, assigned student teams will identify concrete policy challenges for different organizations and develop a high-quality, policy-relevant product outlining a recommended response. The product aims to help improve Partner organizations’ performance and meet their policy objectives.

As part of the Passion Project, Freedom Now will work with a project team of students from the 2013-2015 Master of Public Administration class with the goal of mobilizing European Union (EU) institutions and individual EU member states on behalf of prisoners of conscience. Students will assess the policies and activism of EU institutions and individual EU member states on individual human rights cases. They will further analyze EU institutions and their suitability for advocacy and opportunities they present for Freedom Now’s advocacy initiatives. Finally, the students will make recommendations and provide analysis on how to enhance advocacy campaigns on behalf of prisoners of conscience in the EU and individual EU member states.
