DO YOU NEED OUR HELP?
If someone you know
is arbitrarily detained, please contact us. We welcome communications
from anyone who seeks to bring a case to our attention. Please provide
us with the following information:
1. Your identifying
information, such as full name, birth date, place of birth, place
of current residence, and nationality and citizenship information.
Please be certain to provide a mailing address and, where possible,
telephone and fax numbers and email addresses.
2. Identifying information
(as above) of the individual who you believe is currently being arbitrarily
detained in violation of his or her rights. Please also provide any
information regarding organizations with which the detainee might
be associated, to the extent this information is or may be relevant
to the detention.
3. The circumstances
surrounding the detention, including: the date of the detention; the
reasons given by the authorities for the detention; whether the detainee
is accused of using or advocating violence; whether you believe the
detainee did use or advocate violence; the identity of the authorities
undertaking the detention; the current location of the detainee; domestic
laws potentially applicable to the case; actions taken thus far on
behalf of the detainee and the results of such actions.
4. An account of the
reasons why the deprivation of liberty should be considered arbitrary.
5. Reasons, if any,
why urgent action may be required, such as a serious threat to health
or the imminent threat of death.
