On January 19, 2011, Chinese President Hu Jintao will visit Washington for a state visit. During this time, Geng He, the wife of disappeared Chinese human rights lawyer, Gao Zhisheng, and members of his pro-bono international legal team, will be available in for comment on the occasion of the state visit.
Geng He will travel to Washington and will be taking part in a press conference hosted by Representative Chris Smith on Tuesday, January 18, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. in Room 2456 of the Rayburn House Office Building. She will be present during and take part in the press conference following the House Foreign Affairs Briefing on Assessing China’s Behavior and its Impact on U.S. Interests on Wednesday, January 19, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. in Room 2255 of the Rayburn House Office Building. Finally, she will be taking part in a demonstration on Wednesday, January 19, 2011, at 3:00 p.m. at Lafayette Park across from the White House in Washington, D.C.

Liu Xiaobo is serving an 11 year sentence in Northeast China for promoting peaceful democratic change in China. His wife, Liu Xia, remains under house arrest, without charge, at her home in Beijing.
